In April I was invited to sing at Heaton Tennis & Squash Club as they were holding a squash tournament and they wanted some ambient singing as entertainment during drinks and food afterwards. It was the first time I had performed at this type of intimate gathering and I was conscious that I didn’t want to be too loud while guests wanted to chat with friends. They requested that it be a little more than background singing but I didn’t think my usual belt would be appreciated and so the balance was important to get right.  I was also conscious of the audience and the type of music they would appreciate so I had to add a few more songs to my rep too.  However, I must have pitched it right as I very kindly had lots of lovely comments at the end of my performance which lasted around an hour. I know it’s important for me to keep singing in front of an audience to build my confidence in lots of different settings and keep my voice audition ready…
